The Deal with Power and Voltage
MHM systems are picky. They need a very specific mix of wattage and voltage to keep the temperature steady across your material. If you try to save a few bucks with a lower-spec tube, your curing time crawls. Your throughput drops. Suddenly, you’re staring at a bottleneck in your production. We spec our tubes to match your machine’s power supply exactly. High-voltage setups give you more heat in a smaller space. It’s efficient. But a quick tip: keep your reflectors spotless. If they’re dirty, you’re just wasting electricity and risking a burnout.
Quartz and Halogens
We use high-purity quartz glass for the halogen filaments. Why? Because it pushes the heat into the short-wave infrared spectrum. It hits the ink faster and deeper than those medium-wave options. Then there are the connectors—the R7s or Sk15 types. We make sure they fit tight. A loose connection is a nightmare. It creates resistance, which leads to arcing, and before you know it, your lamp end-caps are fried.
Making it Work in Your Shop
The best part is that these lamps just work. You wire them up without having to mess around with your control boards. They ramp up and cool down just like the parts that came with the machine. But a heads-up: these OEM-grade tubes are intense. They put a lot of pressure on your cooling fans. Make sure your ventilation is wide open so you don’t cook the housing. And if you’re running 24/7? Get into the habit of cleaning those quartz envelopes. A little bit of buildup can cause the glass to crack, and nobody wants to deal with that mid-shift.
