
Let’s Talk About the 1000mm Carbon Fiber IR Lamp
We built these 1000mm carbon fiber lamps for those moments when standard metal filaments just can’t keep up. If you’re running a high-heat process and your current setup is struggling to hit the right density, this is where things get interesting. We take a carbon fiber heating element and seal it inside a high-purity quartz tube. This shifts the heat into that medium-to-long wave range, which is exactly what you want for deep, effective heating.
Why the size and material matter
At a full meter long, these lamps cover a massive footprint. It’s a huge win for anyone running wide conveyor belts or big curing stations because you don’t have to clutter your machine with a dozen smaller lamps. But the real secret is the carbon fiber. Unlike tungsten, carbon fiber has a much higher emissivity. In plain English?More heat goes straight into your workpiece, and less of it wastes away by heating up the air around it. You’ll notice the ramp-up time is incredibly fast.
The nuts and bolts
The quartz tube isn’t just there for looks—it keeps the carbon from oxidizing. We use a specific grade of quartz because, at these temperatures, cheap glass bows. And if the tube warps, your focal point shifts. Suddenly, you’ve got hot spots and cold spots across that 1000mm span, which is a nightmare for quality control. As for the connections, we usually go with R7s or Sk15, depending on your sockets. They’re designed to be drop-in replacements for most industrial arrays. We also ditched the flimsy wiring. These terminals are built to handle the current without melting your housing into a puddle.
Real-world use and a few warnings
You’ll see these doing the heavy lifting in PET blowing, paint drying, and plastic welding. One thing I love about carbon fiber is how it handles power spikes. It’s much more forgiving than halogen, so you won’t be replacing burnt-out filaments every time your voltage fluctuates. But here’s the catch. A meter of quartz is fragile. If your machinery vibrates a lot, that length becomes a liability. The glass can snap if it’s just hanging there. To stop that from happening,make sure you install reinforced supports every 300mm. A little bit of bracing saves you from a lot of downtime.
