By pairing a carbon element with a quartz envelope, we’ve made something that pushes out infrared radiation way more effectively than those old-school metal alloy coils. The size and the power At 1000W and 475mm long, this lamp packs a punch. We kept it at 220V so it plugs right into most industrial grids without a headache. We chose that 475mm length specifically to fit into standard oven footprints and drying racks. One quick tip: get your reflectors lined up perfectly. If they’re off, you’re just wasting heat on the chassis instead of your product. Why carbon and quartz? The heart of the thing is the carbon filament. It handles the heat better and emits a different kind of energy than nichrome does. We wrap that filament in high-purity quartz because quartz is basically invisible to IR waves. The result? The heat goes straight into your workpiece. You aren’t wasting energy heating up the air in the room. But a word of caution: carbon is brittle. Be gentle. If you shake or jar these lamps while you’re installing them, they’ll burn out way sooner than they should. Treat them with care. Making it work in your shop These are great for PET blowing, curing paint, or welding plastics. And if the dimensions match your old halogen tubes, you can usually just swap them out. Just keep an eye on the heat. A 1000W carbon lamp gets intense, and that heat can migrate to your end-caps and wiring. Use high-temp leads. Make sure your cooling fans are actually strong enough to handle the air around the sockets. If those sockets get too hot, the connection oxidizes, and the whole thing fails. Simple as that.
