
Let’s talk about our 29.5" 1000W Carbon Fiber IR Lamps
If you’ve used standard quartz halogen tubes, you know the drill. But these carbon fiber lamps are a different beast. Instead of a metal coil, we’ve tucked a carbon fiber filament inside a quartz envelope. We went with this specific 29.5-inch, 1000W setup for a reason: it gives you a wide area of heat without those annoying, scorching hot spots that can ruin a project. The sweet spot for power When you spread 1000W across nearly 30 inches, you get a really nice balance. It’s enough juice to get your surface up to temp quickly, but not so much that you’re burning out the filament in a week. It creates a consistent thermal footprint. If you’re running a mid-sized industrial drying tunnel or a curing oven, these usually slide right in. Why carbon fiber? Here’s the thing about metal coils—they tend to sag or warp when things get really hot. Carbon fiber doesn’t do that. It handles the heat way better, which means the lamps ramp up to temperature faster. Plus, the way these emit heat is a bit different. They lean toward medium-to-long waves. If you’re working with certain plastics or coatings, these waves actually sink in deeper and work more effectively than the short-wave stuff. A few things to watch out for I want to be honest about the tricky parts. First, you can’t just plug these into any old power supply. Carbon fiber has a different resistance profile than tungsten. If your voltage isn’t matched exactly, you’ll blow the filament. Double-check your specs before you flip the switch. And please,use gloves. The quartz glass is tough against heat, but it hates oil. A single fingerprint can create a tiny hot spot on the glass, and then—snap—it cracks. One last tip: if your machinery vibrates a lot, make sure your mounting clips have a little bit of “give.” If the tube is clamped too tight in a shaky environment, it’s just waiting to break.
