We built them for those tough jobs where you can’t afford to sit around waiting for a machine to warm up. Instead of relying on old-school metal alloys, these use a carbon fiber filament. It shoots out short-wave infrared radiation, which is basically a fancy way of saying the heat hits your target immediately. Power in a small package We crammed 1000W into just 360mm. Why? Because it creates a concentrated blast of heat. It’s fast. Really fast. And that changes everything for your workflow. You don’t have to deal with long idle times on your automated lines because the ramp-up is almost instant. Plus, since it’s radiation and not just blowing hot air around, the heat actually sinks into the material rather than just skimming the surface. What’s inside Inside the tube, you’ve got a carbon fiber filament wrapped in high-purity quartz glass. Carbon fiber is a beast. It handles much higher temperatures than nichrome wire without sagging or breaking down. We went with quartz for the outer shell because it lets the infrared energy pass right through. It doesn’t get in the way. But a heads-up: quartz is fragile. If your setup vibrates a lot, please use dampened mounts. If you don’t, the glass might crack right at the seal, and then you’ve got a problem. Getting it to work for you These are usually easy drop-in replacements for the halogen or quartz lamps you’ll find in PET blowing machines or drying tunnels. Just make sure your power supply is steady. If the power dips, you’ll get flickering, and that leads to uneven heating. Nobody wants a workpiece that’s hot on one side and cold on the other. One last thing: these things get hot—fast. If your housing doesn’t have good vents, the heat will just soak into everything around it. This can fry your sensors or melt your wiring. Check your cooling fans and make sure they can handle the total wattage of your bank. You don’t want to burn out your filaments prematurely just because the air couldn’t move.
