
Getting Your KTK Heaters Back Up to Speed
When you’re swapping out heating lamps in a KTK elliptical printer, you quickly realize it’s not as simple as just matching the wattage. Nobody wants to spend their afternoon drilling new holes in a machine frame or messing around with the control cabinet wiring. That’s why we make our 3000W halogen infrared tubes to be a true 1:1 fit. They just slide right into those OEM slots. No guesswork, no headaches.
The Deal with Power and Voltage
You need that 3000W punch to dry ink fast while the substrate is moving. But here’s the thing: voltage matters. If your circuit is running too low, you’ll never actually hit the temperature you need. On the flip side, if you push too much voltage through, you’re basically cooking the filament until it snaps. Do yourself a favor and double-check your transformer output before you plug everything in. It’ll save you from buying a second set of bulbs.
Why the Build Matters
We use a halogen gas fill in these. Why? Because it stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and gunking up the inside of the glass. When a tube gets cloudy, it loses its punch. By keeping the quartz clear, the short-wave IR heat gets through much better. Plus, we use a specific kind of quartz that can handle the shock of being turned on and off rapidly without cracking. It’s built to take a beating.
Fitting Them In (and Keeping Them Alive)
Since these are spec’d for a perfect fit, the length and end-caps match your KTK housing exactly. You can leave the toolbox in the shop because you won’t need to fabricate any new brackets. Just a heads-up: use your original connectors and make sure they’re tight. A loose connection creates a hotspot, and that’s how you end up with melted wiring. Not a great look. One last thing before you start. 3000W puts out a massive amount of heat. If your exhaust fans are clogged with lint or just plain dying, that heat has nowhere to go. It builds up, stresses the ends of the tubes, and kills the lamp way faster than it should. Check your airflow first. Your lamps will thank you.
