
Getting Your REVO Heater Cores Right
If you’re running an MHM press, you know the REVO heater cores are basically the heart of the whole operation. But here’s the thing: you can’t just grab any part with a matching number and call it a day. If the infrared wavelength or the heat density is off, you’re headed for a bad time. You’ll either end up with ink that hasn’t cured or, even worse, you’ll scorch your materials. Neither is a great look. Matching the heat We spend a lot of time obsessing over the wattage-to-length ratio. Why? Because a generic lamp just won’t cut it if you need a specific shortwave output. We build our replacements to mirror the original voltage and power draw. It keeps things simple. Your power supplies and controllers won’t freak out or burn out because the impedance is exactly where it needs to be. The nitty-gritty: Quartz and Coatings We use high-purity quartz glass. It’s tough. It can handle those rapid heat cycles without cracking under the pressure. Most of these cores use a special coating to shift the IR spectrum. This is a big deal because it pushes the heat right onto the ink surface instead of wasting energy heating up the platen. We also use reinforced end-caps and connectors that actually fit. There’s nothing worse than a loose fit—that’s how you get arcing at the terminals, and nobody wants that. Swapping them out The good news? These are true drop-in replacements. You pull the old core, wire it up, run your usual calibration, and you’re back in business. Just a heads-up: it’s tempting to go with higher wattage cores to speed up your cure times. But be careful. More heat means more stress on your ventilation. If you push the heat density past what the factory intended, make sure your exhaust can actually pull that ambient heat away from your electronics. If you don’t, your capacitors and relays are going to give up the ghost a lot sooner than they should.
