
Stop Stressing Over Your KTK IR Lamps
There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a big run on your KTK elliptical press and having a heating element blow out. Everything just stops. It’s a nightmare for your schedule and a headache for your wallet. That’s why we make our quartz flash dryer elements to be exact copies of the original KTK specs. No fancy workarounds, no “close enough” measurements. You just pull out the dead tube and slide the new one in. No messing with brackets, no rewiring the control panel. Just a simple swap and you’re back in business. Getting the fit right Here is the thing: with these lamps, every millimeter counts. If the length is off by even a tiny bit, the lamp won’t sit right in the socket. Worse, it could arc and blow your fuse, which is the last thing you need when you’re already behind on a job. We make sure the wattage and voltage match the ROQ and KTK systems perfectly. These tubes put out a ton of heat to cure ink fast, but that puts a lot of stress on the filaments. To handle that, we use heavy-wall quartz. It keeps the tubes from bowing or warping when things get hot. The science (without the boring part) We use high-purity quartz glass because it lets the infrared light through without blocking it. These are shortwave IR lamps, meaning they hit the ink and dry it from the bottom up, fast. But rapid heating and cooling can make glass crack. To stop that from happening, we put a lot of care into the seal between the filament and the end caps. We also made sure the electrical terminals can handle the heavy current from the KTK power supply without melting or overheating. A few tips for the install Installing these is easy, but there’s one big rule:don’t touch the glass. If you leave a fingerprint or a bit of skin oil on the quartz, it creates a hot spot. That one little spot will cause the glass to fail way sooner than it should. Grab some isopropyl alcohol and give the tubes a good wipe before you power them up. And one last thing—keep an eye on your exhaust. These elements pump out massive heat. If your airflow drops, that heat has nowhere to go and it’ll start baking your lamp sockets. Keep the air moving, and these lamps will treat you right.
