
Getting the Heat Right for Your MHM Printer
When it’s time to swap out the drying lamps on your MHM printer, you really only want one thing: for the new ones to work exactly like the originals. If the heat is off—even by a little—you’re looking at a bad day. Too low, and your ink bleeds. Too high, and you’ve just scorched a piece of fabric you can’t replace. That’s why we build our infrared lamps to mirror the factory specs. No guessing games. The nitty-gritty on power Getting the heat right comes down to the balance between voltage and wattage. We calibrate our tubes to hit the exact wattage per centimeter that MHM’s drying zones expect. We use high-wattage shortwave lamps because they hit the ink fast. It’s that “flash-dry” effect that gets the job done without cooking the fabric. But do me a favor:double-check your voltagebefore you start wiring. Whether you’re on 230V or 400V, getting it wrong means you’ll either end up with wet ink or a dead element. Built to take a beating These lamps go through a lot. They heat up, cool down, and heat up again, over and over. To handle that stress, we use high-purity quartz glass. Inside, there’s a halogen cycle that keeps the tungsten filament from breaking down too quickly. It just lasts longer. And we don’t mess around with the connectors. We use standard R7s or SK15 fits. Why? Because a loose connection is a nightmare. It creates hotspots that can literally melt your socket. These fit tight, so you can stop worrying about it. Putting them to work The best part is that these are direct replacements. You don’t have to tinker with the housing or mess with the reflectors. Just pop them in and go. One quick tip, though. If you’re pushing these lamps to their absolute limit for maximum heat, your exhaust system is going to feel it. Make sure your airflow is clear. If the heat gets trapped in the chamber, it’ll wear out your quartz tubes way faster than they should. Keep it breathing, and you’re golden.
