Why PET Blowing Needs Its Own Special IR Lamp
We built this carbon fiber infrared heating lamp with one job in mind: the PET bottle blowing process. The whole point? Get that preform hot, fast, and right where you need it—without burning the material. Forget the old convection heating. It’s just too slow and clumsy for the machines running today. This lamp cuts through the noise. It puts the heat directly on the preform surface, exactly where the energy needs to be.
The Specs, Plain and Simple: Power, Voltage, and Size
These lamps are built for the real world—for the daily grind of industrial use. The wattage and voltage are matched to your machine’s power supply so you get serious heat density. A typical unit runs at 400V and 2500W. That kind of power is what it takes to heat the preform quickly enough to keep pace with the machine cycle. And the 300mm length? It’s a standard footprint, designed to fit the heating zone of most blow molding equipment. That tight fit means the entire preform gets even, consistent coverage.
What It’s Made Of: Carbon Fiber and the R7s Base
Inside, you’ve got a carbon fiber heating element, all snug inside a quartz tube. Carbon fiber heats up almost instantly, and it takes thermal shock way better than standard wire coils. The quartz envelope lets the IR energy through cleanly, while keeping the element protected from the environment. The connector is an R7s base—a double-ended linear fitting. It gives you solid mechanical stability and handles the high current safely. And it’s a direct, drop-in replacement for the standard halogen-style mounts already in your machine.
How It Performs When the Machines Are Running
Out in the field, this setup cuts warm-up time and keeps temperature control steady during production. The focused IR energy gets right into the PET preform surface, so the stretching is uniform when it’s time to blow. Now, there’s one thing to keep in mind. With 2500W, you’re running serious heat density. That means your machine’s cooling system has to be up to the task. If the cooling is undersized, the lamp and nearby parts will feel the strain. Proper airflow isn’t optional—it’s essential.
